In 1935, seven local horse trainers and breeders gathered to create the first walking horse association. The first year 208 horses were registered. This trail weaves through Southern Middle Tennessee featuring the burial place of “Strolling Jim” - the first World Grand Champion of The Celebration (buried on the grounds of the former Walking Horse Hotel - Wartrace), The Celebration Grounds (Shelbyville), the Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association (Lewisburg), and various walking horse farms. Several trail events are held throughout the year.
